The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 7 cast clown, Matt Riddle (1-0), will meet up with Steve Bruno (12-4) inside the Octagon at UFC Fight Night 17 from the University of Southern Florida (USF) Sun Dome in Tampa, Fla., on February 7, 2009.
FiveOuncesOfPain.com reported the welterweight match up — a first for Riddle — earlier today.
Riddle — who on the show joked that he still lived with his mother, didn’t have a driver’s license and much more — is perhaps best known for shattering Dan Simmler’s jaw in the opening of the show, which coach Quinton “Rampage” Jackson quipped was the “Knockout of the Century.”
He was bounced out of the tournament-style show courtesy of a Tim Credeur armbar. He rebounded to score a unanimous decsion win over Dante Rivera at the TUF 7 Finale back in June — the first of his professional fighting career.
Riddle now trains at Arizona Combat Sports alongside WEC Lightweight Champion Jamie Varner, CB Dolloway, Ryan Bader and others, proving that he is serious about improving his mixed martial arts skills.
His opponent, Bruno — the United States Navy veteran turned mixed martial artist — scored his first win inside the Octagon against Johnny Rees via submission (rear naked choke) at UFC Fight Night 16: “Fight for the Troops” on December 1.
The American Top Team (ATT) member was overwhelmed by Chris Wilson at UFC 87: “Seek and Destroy” in August 2008, dropping a lopsided unanimous decision.
UFC Fight Night 17 features a 155-pound match up between Joe Lauzon and Hermes Franca. Fellow lightweights Mac Danzig and Josh Neer are also likely hook ‘em up in the co-featured fight of the night, provided Neer is in the clear following a recent arrest for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and other charges in Iowa.

Matt Brown will step up on short notice and replace the injured Matt Riddle against Ryan Thomas at UFC 91: “Couture vs. Lesnar” at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on November 15, according to WrestlingObserver.com.
Riddle — The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 7 cast clown — reportedly suffered a serious knee injury while training for the welterweight bout and there is no timetable for his return to action at this time.
Brown also competed on TUF 7 before being eliminated from the show by eventual tournament winner Amir Sadollah via triangle choke in the semifinals. He bounced back to defeat Matt Arroyo via technical knockout at the TUF 7 Finale in June.
The taste of victory inside the Octagon, however, did not last long — Brown dropped a close split decision to undefeated Korean import, Dong Hyun “Stun Gun” Kim at UFC 88: “Breakthrough” in Atlanta, Ga., on September 6,
It marked his fourth loss in his six most recent fights.
Thomas is no stranger to last minute opponent switches — he stepped up on short notice (12 days) to replace an injured Jared Rollins at UFC 87: “Seek and Destroy” in August to fight Ben Saunders.
He lost that fight via second round submission (armbar), spoiling his debut for the promotion.
Thomas is a 23-year-old part-time student at Eastern Illinois University who, prior to taking the Saunders fight, fought 14 times in 20 months.

With UFC 90: “Silva vs. Cote” in the books we might as well look toward the future and the next major event for the promotion, UFC 91: “Couture vs. Lesnar,” which is being billed as the “biggest fight in UFC history.”
That because the UFCs biggest heavyweight — and perhaps its biggest box office draw — Brock Lesnar is challenging mixed martial arts legend and UFC Hall of Fame inductee, Randy Couture, for his heavyweight title. It will be the first fight for “The Natural” in about 15 months.
Top lightweight contenders Kenny Florian and Joe Stevenson will clash in the co main event, fighting for the right to be declared the number one contender in a very crowded 155-pound division.
Let’s take a look at the complete UFC 91 fight card:
Main event:
265 lbs.: UFC Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture (16-8) vs. Brock Lesnar (2-1)
Main card (Televised):
155 lbs.: Kenny Florian (10-3) vs. Joe Stevenson (29-8)
185 lbs.: Amir Sadollah (1-0) vs. Nick Catone (5-0)
265 lbs.: Gabriel Gonzaga (9-3) vs. Josh Hendricks (14-4)
185 lbs.: Demian Maia (8-0) vs. Nate Quarry (10-2)
Under card (May not be broadcast):
170 lbs.: Dustin Hazelett (11-4) vs. Tamdan McCrory (9–1)
155 lbs.: Jorge Gurgel (12-4) vs. Aaron Riley (26-10-1)

155 lbs.: Alvin Robinson (9–3) vs. Mark Bocek Record (5-2)
185 lbs.: Matt Riddle (1-0) vs. Ryan Thomas (9-2)
UFC 91 is set go off LIVE from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on pay-per-view (PPV) (November 15) at 10 p.m. ET. Tickets are still available — to check out the remaining seats click here.

Dante Rivera and Matthew Riddle will clash at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 7 Finale at The Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday, June 21 at 9 p.m. ET on SpikeTV, according to MMAWeekly.com.
Both contestants are currently competing as middleweights on this season of the show; however, both have been eliminated from the 16-man tournament-style format.
Rivera defeated John Wood via submission (kimura) to earn a spot in the fighter house during the debut episode. He then went on to outpoint Brandon Sene in a three-round “sudden victory” match, propelling him into the next round.
In his next match, Rivera went up against Jesse Taylor and had no answers for his relentless takedowns and wrestling skills. He went on to lose the match — and his chance at a six-figure contract — via decision.
Riddle, of course, is famous for the brutal jaw-breaking knockout of Dan Simmler in the first episode, as well as living in his mother’s basement and not having a driver’s license.
He lost his next fight to one of the few veteran’s on the show, Tim Credeur, via second round submission (armbar). However, the goofy mama’s boy performed admirably in defeat and earned the respect of his fellow castmates for putting up a good fight.
TUF 7 Finale features the middleweight showdown between former 185-pound champion, Evan Tanner, and TUF 3 winner, Kendall Grove. In addition, Diego Sanchez will take on Luigi Fioravanti in the co main event of the evening and the two finalists from the season of the reality series will meet to declare a champion.
