UFC Fight Night 16 bonuses and awards for ‘Fight for the Troops’

UFC Fight Night 16: “Fight for the Troops” from the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, North Carolina, has officially wrapped, which means that it’s time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.

To the tune of $30,000 each.

The promotion dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four out of the 20 fighters on the card. And it shouldn’t come as a shock whose wallets are leaving Fort Bragg a little heavier.

In addition to their base salaries, the UFC awarded lightweight scrappers Jon Miller and Matt Wiman for their gritty three-round 155-pound war. It was a dominant performance by Miller but hardly a topic of discussion after the brutality that followed it.

Former WEC light heavyweight champ Steve Cantwell locked up a bonus right along with the arm of Razak Al-Hassan. If there was an award for biggest set of testicles, it would surely go to the Iowa native for refusing to tap despite having his arm folded together like a Sensu.

Here are the special fight bonuses for “Fight for the Troops:”

Fight of the Night : Jon Miller vs. Matt Wiman
Submission of the Night : Steve Cantwell
Knockout of the Night : Josh Koscheck

Again, each fighter received $30,000 extra for their performances in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along if possible.

It’s good to see Koscheck going green. He’s always had the respect from his peers when it came to wrestling, but tonight I think he proved once and for all that he can knock you senseless if you give him the opportunity.

Now it’s time for the AKA standout to enjoy his well-deserved time off and start thinking about another title run in 2009. If he continues to fight like he did tonight, it may only be a matter of time.

UFC 90 bonuses and awards for ‘Silva vs Cote’ PPV fights

UFC 90: “Silva vs Cote” from the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois has come to a close.

The highly anticipated main event of the evening between Anderson Silva and Patrick Cote took home “Injury of the Night”, unfortunately that award offers nothing but higher premiums on health insurance.

While Silva was an early favorite for knockout of the night, that honor went to UFC newcomer Junior Dos Santos for his first round dental work on very-heavyweight contender Fabricio Werdum.

Lightweights Sean Sherk and Tyson Griffin snagged “Fight of the Night” for their rock-em, sock-em three-round brawl, which “The Muscle Shark” took in the end via unanimous decision.

Another lightweight who took home some greenbacks (but didn’t make the televised broadcast) was Spencer Fisher. “The King” locked in “Submission of the Night” with his third round triangle choke.

Overall, it was a decent card with a very indecent main event. Still, the fighters honored below definitely deserved a little extra cash for their outstanding performances.

Here are the special fight bonuses for UFC 90:

Knockout of the Night — Junior Dos Santos

Submission of the Night – Spencer Fisher

Fight of the Night — Sean Sherk vs. Tyson Griffin

Each fighter received $65,000 for their efforts in addition to their respective base salaries, which is $15,000 higher than the $40,000 awards issued last week at UFC 89.

UFC 89 bonuses and rewards for ‘Bisping vs Leben’ fights

UFC 89: “Bisping vs. Leben” from The National Indoor Arena (NIA) in Birmingham, England, on October 18 has come to a close.

The highly anticipated main event of the evening between Michael Bisping and Chris Leben had its fair share action, but it was not awarded the “Fight of the Night” by promotion officials when all was said and done.

That honor went to welterweights Chris Lytle and Paul Taylor for their rock-em, sock-em three-round brawl, which “Lights Out” took in the end via unanimous decision.

Another 170-pound match up that didn’t make the televised Spike TV broadcast between Dan Hardy and Akihiro Gono had to come in a close second.

Overall, it was a solid card that produced several exciting fights — the fighters honored below more than deserved a little extra cold hard cash for their outstanding performances.

Here are the special fight bonuses for UFC 89:

Knockout of the Night — Luis Cane

Submission of the Night – Per Eklund

Fight of the Night — Chris Lytle vs. Paul Taylor

Each fighter received $40,000 for their efforts in addition to their respective base salaries, which will more than likely not be made available because the event took place overseas.

UFC Fight Night 15 bonuses and awards for ‘Diaz vs Neer’ in Omaha

ufc fight night 15 bonuses
UFC Fight Night 15: “Diaz vs. Neer” at the Omaha Civic Auditorium in Omaha, Neb., has wrapped, which means that it’s time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.

To the tune of $30,000 each.

The promotion dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four out of the 20 fighters on the card. And it shouldn’t come as a shock whose wallets are leaving the “Cornhusker State” a little heavier.

In addition to their base salaries, the UFC awarded main eventers Nate Diaz and Josh Neer for their three-round back-and-forth 155-pound scrap. Diaz is accustomed to getting singled out; however, it’s usually because he pulled off an improbably submission win.

The Cesar Gracia-trained fighter didn’t finish “The Dentist,” but it certainly wasn’t for a lack of effort.

Here are the special fight bonuses for “Diaz vs. Neer:”

Fight of the Night: Nate Diaz vs. Josh Neer
Submission of the Night: Wilson Gouveia.
Knockout of the Night: Alessio Sakara

Again, each fighter received $30,000 extra for their performances in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along if possible.

It’s good to see Sakara earn some extra scratch — the Italian bruiser has had his ups and downs inside the Octagon and perhaps he’s beginning to turn the corner.

Now it’s time for “Legionarius” to prove he really has a place in the 185-pound division and string together back-to-back wins inside the Octagon for the first time ever in nine fights.

Former Pride FC middleweight and welterweight champion picked up a cool $250,000 for his first win inside the Octagon since 1998. And former 185-pound champion Rich Franklin wa rewarded with $100,000 for his move back up to the light heavyweight division.

UFC 87 bonuses for ‘Seek and Destroy’ PPV fights

UFC 87: “Seek and Destroy” at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on August 9 has come to a close. The overall quality of the event easily ranks it as one of the year’s best and the main event of the evening provided all the drama and fireworks that were expected.

Despite a couple of one-sided contests, the promotion rewarded Georges “Rush” St. Pierre and Jon Fitch, as well as others, for their outstanding performances with cold hard cash.

Here are the special fight bonuses for UFC 87:

Fight of the Night: Georges St. Pierre vs. Jon Fitch
Submission of the Night: Demian Maia
Knockout of the Night: Rob Emerson

Each fighter received $60,000 for their efforts in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along as soon as humanly possible.

It’s interesting that the main event took top honors. Granted the second round may have been the only one that was close, but the heart and determination of Jon Fitch was enough to impress the UFC brass - and most of the UFC fans in attendance.

Congratulations goes out to Rob Emerson for doing what no one else expected him to by knocking out Manny Gamburyan. “The Anvil” might be a lot of things, but he is not easy to finish.

The attendance at the Target Center was an impressive 15,082 with a total gate of $2.2 million - setting a new arena record that was originally held by a Billy Joel/Elton John concert.
