Gabriel meets Magomedov in Bangkok

Lucas Gabriel meets Magomed Magomedov on Saturday, November 7, at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok. The fight is the lightweight main event of ONE Fight Night 49. It is three rounds. Lightweight in ONE is 170 pounds. No belt is on the line.

Christian Lee defends that title against Tye Ruotolo on Friday evening in Bangkok, before this card starts. That fight is in the Lee story. ONE has framed a win for Gabriel as a step toward the belt.

The matchups

Magomedov replaces Alibeg Rasulov, who was injured. This is Magomedov’s first fight in ONE. The filed record is 15-0. His last five fights were finishes. He was born in Dagestan and trains in Makhachkala. ONE lists his country as Russia and says he represents Bahrain.

Gabriel is 26. The filed record is 11-1-0, with one no contest. He is 5-0 in ONE. He beat former lightweight champion Ok Rae Yoon by split decision on June 26. The no contest is the Zhang Lipeng bout, overturned after a positive test for furosemide and betamethasone. His only loss is a first-round stoppage against Taffarel Brasil in 2019.

The co-main

Kongthoranee Sor Sommai meets Taiki Naito in a flyweight kickboxing rematch. Their first fight was Muay Thai. Kongthoranee won by unanimous decision.
