He won the vacant lightweight title against Michael Chandler at UFC 262 on May 15, 2021, and defended it against Dustin Poirier. The belt was vacated when he missed weight for Justin Gaethje at UFC 274.
The no contest is an illegal knee against Nik Lentz on June 26, 2011. The rear-naked choke was overturned. Seventeen submissions came in the UFC.
The state of São Paulo is his birthplace. He trains at Bronx’s Gold Team, started at nine, holds a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and turned pro in 2008.
